I ordered this book from Amazon called Where Women Create. I am such a sucker because I ordered it when I ordered 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women in order to get free shipping. Never mind that I probably would have paid less if I had just ordered the 12 Secrets and paid the shipping. Anywho, I was hoping for some inspiration, some insight into how other artists organize their space. And I got it. The book is filled with beautiful images of studios from the smallest portable studio to large, extravagant ones. My only wish for this book is that it showed pictures of the space in use rather than just the lovely cleaned up, gussied up pictures for the photo shoot. Some of the spaces are so cool and I can just imagine getting down and dirty creatively in them. I want to be a bug on the wall; I want to see what they look like when the artist is in the midst of creative chaos. I want the before, during and after shots!!!! Wouldn't that be grand? Hmmm...is there a book just waiting to be written there?
Do you have photos of your studio, creative space in thrall with the creative process? I'd love to see them. This is my studio at the moment. A hodgepodge of jewelery in the making, the beginnings of a mixed media canvas for our bathroom (to cover a hole in the wall where the landlord cut out the drywall to access the plumbing pipes and then decided not to cover it up again in case the problem reoccurred!) and a sewing table that has become the junk depository for everything I need to find a place for but haven't. Oh, and check out the elephant. A cement mini behemoth my hubby found in the back lane and brought in for me to resurrect.
Ooo, that book sounds great! I love to see creative spaces. And look at yours-- so many different projects going on.
I admit, I've only shown a "pristine" picture of my creative space. But it never gets *really* cluttered, because I get overwhelmed and can't work when it gets too bad.
